About the team and the role: The eBay Cloud team powers the core infrastructure that supports thousands of applications across the company. We run one of the world's largest private cloud platforms built on open-source technologies, operating hundreds of Kubernetes clusters and millions of compute instances. Our mission is to deliver end-to-end governance and lifecycle support for every eBay application running on our cloud. We're constantly enhancing our platform's cloud-native capabilities to ensure reliability, scalability, efficiency, and security. We're now looking for a Cloud Platform Security Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll design, implement, and manage the tools and systems that ensure security and compliance across our private cloud. You'll focus on scalable IAM solutions, Kubernetes RBAC, and regulatory alignment (e.g., NYDFS, GDPR), working closely with global security and infrastructure teams. What you will accomplish: Design and maintain scalable IAM and Kubernetes RBAC solutions to govern secure access for users and services. Build automation and diagnostic tools in Go and Java to streamline platform operations and boost reliability. Partner with global security teams to embed regulatory requirements such as NYDFS and GDPR into development workflows. Architect observability frameworks that deliver deep visibility into application health and security posture. Identify and close system-level gaps to improve platform resilience and security compliance. Champion secure design principles and operational excellence across the cloud platform. What you will bring: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Linux systems, including deep knowledge of kernel internals (scheduling, memory management, file systems, networking). Strong programming skills in C++, Go, or Python. Proven experience with IAM systems and Kubernetes RBAC; understanding of compliance frameworks such as GDPR and NYDFS. Expertise in managing containerized workloads and building scalable, secure cloud systems. Problem‑solver with the ability to identify cross‑functional issues and drive end‑to‑end resolutions. Experience mentoring others, leading small‑scale initiatives, and collaborating across teams. Security‑first mindset in both design and operations. Job Description: Cloud Data Technologies (CDT) team at eBay is responsible for all the data infrastructure and management of end-to-end data lifecycle for all eBay data from onsite to analytics use cases. About the role: We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team. You’ll work on building scalable, high-performance applications using technologies like Java, Spring Boot, ReactJS, JavaScript, REST APIs, SQL, and Kubernetes. You’ll contribute to both front-end and back-end development and play a key role in deploying and managing applications. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain both client-side and server-side applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, UX/UI, Data and DevOps. Build responsive web applications using ReactJS for frontend development. Develop and optimize RESTful APIs and integrate third-party APIs. Implement robust backend logic using Spring Boot framework. Utilize Kubernetes for containerization, deployment, and orchestration of services. Manage application state and enhance user interactivity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery. Perform unit and integration testing to ensure the application is bug-free and high-performing. Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize both frontend and backend issues. Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards and ensure code quality. Technical Skills Frontend: ReactJS: Experience with functional components, hooks, and state management (e.g., Redux). JavaScript: Expertise in ES6+ features, asynchronous programming (Promises, async/await). jQuery: Proficiency in DOM manipulation and event handling. Backend: Java: Extensive experience in backend application development. Spring Boot: Expertise in building Java-based microservices and REST APIs. RESTful APIs: Ability to design, develop, and integrate APIs. DevOps & Infrastructure: Kubernetes: Experience in containerization, orchestration, and management of cloud-native applications. Familiarity with Docker for containerization. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure. Other Tools: Version control using Git. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment. Preferred Skills Familiarity with microservices architecture. Experience with Agile/Scrum development processes. Knowledge of GraphQL or other API query languages. Experience with testing frameworks. Qualifications 7+ years of experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a collaborative team environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
