    I am currently looking for engineering operatives for work with my client based in Cork. Purpose: To clean and fuel all fleet types to the company standard and safety regulations. Five days over seven, Shift pattern. Work as part of the Maintenance team. Reports to Maintenance Manager or Foreman. Pay Rate - €634.09 - €752.45 per week Key Responsibilities Fuelling buses and checking oil/water levels Shunting Washing and cleaning buses Minor maintenance work can be carried out where appropriate under direction from the Foreman or Team Leader. Other duties as outlined by the Foreman/ Team Leader. Maintenance of the Garage area Any member of the EO grade will be fully flexible and will undertake any suitable task subject only to their level of competence and taking account of safety considerations. Roster: Monday - Friday Pay Rate Salary - €43,317.54 - €54,320.99 Weekly - €830.37 - €1041.30 The purpose of this role is to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the company's fleet through expert maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of heavy vehicles and associated equipment. The Heavy Vehicle Mechanic plays a key role in maximising fleet availability, maintaining compliance with safety and environmental standards, and supporting the overall performance of transport operations. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to quality workmanship, and effective collaboration within the maintenance team to deliver vehicles that are fully service-ready and meet company and regulatory expectations. GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS: * Works collaboratively as part of the maintenance team in a dynamic workshop environment. * Committed to safety, reliability, and customer-focused service delivery. * Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to support operational needs, including occasional weekend work. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on all fleet types to company standards and within safety regulations. Take initiative to complete tasks efficiently and proactively identify issues before they escalate. Utilise workshop resources, tools, and parts effectively to optimise repair turnaround times. Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed accurately, safely, and within agreed deadlines. Train, guide, and support apprentices in practical skills and safe working practices. Complete accurate service records, defect reports, and communicate effectively with Supervisors and colleagues. Present vehicles post-repair in a ready-to-use condition - ensuring all touchpoints are operational and vehicles are clean inside and out. ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS QQI Level 6 Award in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or Construction Plant Fitting (or equivalent qualification). Demonstrated high level of technical competence in diagnostics, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Proven experience in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance environment. Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across shifts and functions. Sound knowledge of safety standards, vehicle inspection procedures, and maintenance best practices. Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving and time management skills.
