The Solutions Architect will be responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining end-to-end solution architectures across a predominantly on-premise technology landscape, integrating enterprise platforms with SaaS solutions where appropriate.
This role plays a key part in ensuring that all solution architectures are secure by design , resilient, compliant with DORA , and aligned with the organisation’s target enterprise and application architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Design secure, scalable, and resilient solution architectures and present these for architectural governance and approval
Translate complex business and technical requirements into end-to-end system designs and change impacts, ensuring alignment with security standards, regulatory obligations, and industry best practices
Work collaboratively and hands‑on with cross‑functional delivery teams, supporting projects to ensure alignment with target enterprise and integration architectures
Define application architectures and design patterns that promote standardisation, reusability, scalability, and long‑term maintainability
Contribute to the ongoing development and evolution of the IT strategy, including the definition of future‑state technology architectures and operating models
Support the evaluation and selection of software and hardware platforms, product standards, and services, including the design of both standard and bespoke configurations
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive these initiatives through to delivery
Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams, ensuring that improvement initiatives are documented, communicated, and actioned
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience
Relevant architecture certifications such as TOGAF , IASA , or equivalent
Relevant technical certifications (e.g. Microsoft 365 , Azure )
Experience
10+ years’ experience working in IT, with 3+ years in a Solutions Architect role
Strong hands‑on experience designing solutions in on-premise environments , integrated with SaaS platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft 365
Experience working with multiple integration approaches, including API-based and event-driven architectures
Strong background in architecture governance, architectural patterns, IT standards, and controls, including IT risk management
Experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 is preferred
Experience using architecture modelling tools, including Archimate
Proven ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, both technical and non‑technical
Experience in a regulated industry (e.g. insurance, financial services) is advantageous
