By integrating geospatial data with enterprise systems such as Maximo, daa Central Data Platform (CDP), Frequentis and many other IoT platforms, GIS enables smarter decision‑making, optimises maintenance and planning, and supports compliance with international asset management and aerodrome standards such as for EASA and Euro control. Its criticality lies in ensuring accurate, real‑time information flows across Dublin and Cork Airports ecosystems, driving efficiency, safety, and sustainability in complex operational environments. The GIS Technician role exists to further realise Dublin Airports’ a digital transformation journey by ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and ongoing development of GIS data and processes. The position will report to and support the Senior GIS Analyst by reviewing information from designers and contractors, maintaining, and improving GIS workflows, providing new applications and technical support to users. This role underpins the delivery of high‑quality spatial data and services in alignment with Dublin Airports digital visions, standards, and policies. Responsibilities Ensure accuracy and consistency of GIS data: Maintain high standards of spatial data quality by reviewing and validating information provided by designers and contractors to support operational and strategic decision‑making. Assisting with system managers in mapping priority assets: Develop applications in a standard format for reuse and redeployment. Support the Senior GIS Analyst in technical development: Assist in enhancing GIS systems, tools, and workflows to improve efficiency and meet evolving business needs. Maintain and update GIS databases and processes: Perform regular updates and ensure integrity of existing GIS datasets while implementing new processes for improved data management. Provide technical support and training to GIS users: Facilitate training, rollout of GIS platform and administration of the daa ESRI Enterprise portal. Coordinate integration of GIS with other systems: Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless data exchange and system interoperability. Monitor compliance with daa standards and policies: Ensure all GIS activities align with organisational values, regulatory requirements, and best practices. Validation of submitted information for quality and completeness by surveying or comparing with other available spatial data. Assist in project delivery and documentation: Contribute to GIS‑related projects by preparing documentation, maps, and reports that support planning and operational objectives. Identify opportunities for process improvement: Recommend enhancements to GIS workflows and technologies to optimise performance and user experience. Qualifications Experience 3+ years' experience working in a similar role. Skills Displays good interpersonal and communication skills and acts in an independent and professional manner with the ability to influence others including senior management. Strong GIS technical skills in ESRI ArcPro, associated applications and programming languages e.g. Python. Ability to learn new innovative cloud collaborative platforms. Communication – Facilitate training and rollout of GIS platform in each team. Programming – Develop and maintain new applications to improve data capture accuracy and consistency. Knowledge of surveying methods, data acquisition, data validation, data quality assurance and data quality control. Deliver training to personnel in the use of GIS systems/documentation and awareness to assist in the management and delivery of the project. Desirable to have basic knowledge of Autodesk Products such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D. Database Management Systems (DBMS) basic knowledge such as SQL, MongoDB, Oracle. Desirable to have software integration knowledge and programming skills. Microsoft Office programs. Education & Qualifications Qualifications in GIS or Geography/Geoinformatics or similar. Excellent working knowledge of ESRI / Geographical Information Systems. FME web and server experience highly desirable. Implementation of best information management practice, project delivery, reporting and analysis. Familiar with EASA Aerodrome Mapping Database (AMDB) Standards would be an advantage. These roles will sit in our specialist day teams. The function of the role is to provide services for the operation and maintenance of Dublin Airport's Terminals and Campus areas. Our asset base includes but is not limited to Life safety, HVAC, Security, Public Health Systems, Passenger sensitive equipment and Architecture in Ireland’s busiest airport. The role is a day role ( 8 hour shifts), however there is requirement to work 12 weeks of nights (10 hours shift) over the course of each year . You will be working in a team of multi-skilled technicians in a fully cross skilled environment. The successful candidate will be supported to develop all the requisite skillsets to flourish as a highly skilled technician..
