Job Description
Role Objective: Responsible for the organisation and supervision of forest operations in the Business Area Unit (BAU), ensuring excellent quality assurance, good production and cost control, compliance with environmental and social standards, and safe work practices.
Manage and develop contractors and forest operatives to ensure all operational production targets are met on time and as efficiently as possible.
Be flexible in implementing forest security measures to protect and maintain the forest estate across the BAU.
Fully utilise available technologies and new business processes to ensure efficiencies are delivered and support optimal operational performance.
Responsibilities
People, Leadership, Organisation and Culture
Manage contractors and forest operatives to meet operational targets, quality standards, and value for money.
Develop contractors to deliver best performance and enable them to provide a more rounded service.
Show flexibility to support the business across all operations within the BAU to enable better geographic coverage.
Promote a commercial culture where decisions maximise revenue and reduce costs.
Promote simplification to reduce complexity and allow best work.
Actively promote a safe working environment for people, contractors and customers.
Be accountable for developing personal contribution to business, including personal development initiatives.
Act as a visible role model for the Group’s values.
Planning & Management
Ensure operational plans are in place to carry out forest operations efficiently.
Assist the manager in preparing operational budgets and financial forecasts.
Support meeting financial targets such as revenue and operational costs.
Organise and supervise staff, contractors and resources to complete programmes within agreed timeframes.
Operations
Implement quality control systems to ensure operations meet required standards.
Provide accurate and timely production information from field operations.
Provide timely and accurate field data capture after all forest operations.
