We have a great opportunity for a Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Senior Authorised Person) to oversee planned maintenance, coordinate works with the maintenance planner and wider maintenance team, be responsible for all HV related switching activities on site with a safety-first mindset, respond to emergency events during normal work hours and out of hours when on-call in a mission critical environment. The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will act as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) for all electrical equipment on site reporting to the Operations Manager, interacting with on-site Shift Operations Technicians and managing third-party vendors. Our goal is to maximise the availability and efficiency of assets under our control. The role includes the direct management of maintenance contractors responsible for maintaining critical assets while ensuring compliance with industry regulations, best practice and contractual obligations. The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will work closely with the Operations Manager on operational planning while also looking for ways to help reduce operational costs for the facilities, improve operational processes and will provide support to on-site Shift Operations Technicians in their role. You will be responsible for electrical plant on site, including electrical aspects of the main rotating equipment, ensuring the plant operates at 99.999% availability or above for the client. About the role: Being the technical expert on site in relation to design standards, codes of practice and legislation and always ensuring process safety standards are maintained. Working with the wider O&M Team to plan and execute outages and preventative maintenance activities, ensuring they are within the time, quality, and budget requirements. Being a point of contact for escalations for all electrical equipment related issues. Assisting Operations in root cause analysis of equipment onsite and reviewing all reports from both on-site Shift Technicians and third-party vendors. Identifying and examining measures to improve the reliability, efficiency, and performance of the plant/equipment proactively, and present recommendations to Management where required. Executing and coordinating site electrical projects safely, within budget, and without unplanned incidents. Supporting the management of service level agreements with third party vendors, tracking vendor performance on time keeping, quality of work, safety, documentation & costs. Regularly reviewing all relevant service reports provided by third party vendors, identifying/finding issues, and planning any future corrective actions. Ensuring preventative maintenance schedules and risk registers are maintained, managed, and clearly communicated as required. Maintaining the site CMMS system ensuring all scheduled PM works are compliant. Writing accurate and comprehensive maintenance reports and supporting root cause & analysis on alarms/faults and equipment issues. Working with the Operations Manager in developing and creating standard/emergency operating procedures/Method of Procedure (SOPs/EOPs/MOPs) for all switching related activities. Leading the team on critical switching activities, up to HV switchgear, coordinating all switching activities on-site in the safest manner. Provide leadership and governance in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), ensuring that all hazardous energy work is controlled safely & consistently. Ensure that all safety documentation is submitted, reviewed and approved in advance of maintenance activities and manage the site permit system for the same. Being an ambassador for site safety, implementing safe working procedures and practices for all members of staff on site, ensuring safe systems of work are always followed and adhered to. Ensuring that all employees and contractors under your control maintain proper standards in relation to our safety rules, are suitably trained and follow safe working practices. Supervising third party subcontracts on all maintenance activities. Responding to out of hours events (when required), secondary on call system (SOC). Ensuring compliance with all site quality procedures, implementing a quality management system and continuous improvement programs. Supporting the Operations Manager with training & competency programs for Authorised Persons. Keeping up to date with all relevant local laws, legislation and statutory requirements within the industry. Here's what we're looking for: Experience in coordinating/carrying out HV switching activities Good IT literacy, writing & developing switching plans/SOPs/EOPs Previous experience in managing sub-contractors Experience in commissioning and/or troubleshooting electrical control & protection systems would be desirable. Familiar with power generation equipment, backup generators/CCGT Experience of communicating (written & verbal) technical reports to internal or external stakeholders Ability to operate independently and efficiently Experience in CMMS (Maintenance Management Systems) Familiar with SCADA systems or similar Qualified Electrical Tradesperson (NFQ) or equivalent. Key Responsibilities Facilitating the growth of BGE’s net zero ambitions by providing advice in the following areas: contracts for the sale of innovative energy and services products, such as electric vehicle charging tariffs, solar and heat pump installations and micro‑generation tariffs; the delivery of deep home retrofits through our One Stop Shop products and network of suppliers; the delivery of smart eco homes, through our Hive connected home products, including thermostats and electric vehicle chargers; advising our award‑winning marketing and sponsorship teams, including link‑ups with the GAA, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and brand influencers; and developing partnerships with other large companies to provide offers to our Bord Gáis Energy Rewards Club members. Supporting the Senior Legal Counsel on large commercial projects, including outsourcings and IT infrastructure agreements. Supporting the Senior Legal Counsel managing escalated customer complaints as well as litigation in the Circuit and District Courts. Advising, researching and reporting on the dynamic and fast moving legal and regulatory issues that underpin the energy markets. Working with other members of the legal team to keep our precedents updated. Opportunities for Growth getting under the bonnet of one of Ireland’s largest energy suppliers by helping with company secretarial and board governance; as part of a wider UK & Ireland team, supporting our market leading UK energy businesses. Qualifications A professionally qualified lawyer with an Irish practising certificate is required. The responsibilities associated with this position would be suited to an individual with 2 to 4 years of post‑qualification experience; however, BGE welcomes applications from all candidates interested in opportunities at this level. In‑house experience is desirable, but not essential. A background in commercial law including drafting and negotiating contracts. Commercially savvy lawyer with business facing experience of successfully delivering complex and high‑profile matters in a fast‑paced environment. A working knowledge of the energy sector and one or more complementary areas of law, such as consumer or sector regulation, data protection, technology and digital, is also desirable but not essential.
