Role Purpose The Accounting Assistant supports day-to-day financial operations across Bon Secours Health System (BSHS), performing general accounting tasks and maintaining accurate records. This role is within the Group Finance Shared Services team, supporting functions such as month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the completeness and accuracy of general ledger data and provides support to other finance staff as needed. Candidate Criteria: Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent), part-qualified accountant, or qualified by experience. Key Responsibilities Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in line with GAAP and company financial policies. Prepare and post journal entries, supporting month-end and year-end close activities including accruals, receivables, payables, and fixed assets. Perform key account reconciliations (e.g., cash, inventory, patient receivables, intercompany). Compile, validate, and report financial data for management and audit purposes. Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and schedules. Collaborate with other finance functions (Accounts Payable, Payroll, Procurement) to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial data. Assist departments with financial queries, reports, and interpretation of financial results. Contribute to process improvements, digital tool adoption, and team cross-training initiatives.
