    Health Care Chaplain Candidate will be working in a multi-disciplinary environment, the Pastoral Care Worker's ministry will embody the Vision, Mission and Values that underpin the Bon Secours approach to person-centred care. The role of the Pastoral Care Worker is to attend to the Pastoral, Spiritual, Sacramental and Emotional needs of patients and their family members.   • Job Purpose The Bon Secours Health System is looking to appoint an Assistant Director of Nursing to join our Care Village located in Cork. The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) works in support of the Director of Nursing (DON) and will have management remit, responsibility and accountability for all services in Bon Secours Care Village in partnership with the Director of Nursing and Management team. The postholder will provide clear leadership and a focal point for Clinical Nurse Management in the performance of their people management activities. The post holder will support the Director of Nursing to ensure compliance with all regulations and legislation pertaining to Nursing Homes in accordance with SI 415 of 2013, Health Act 2007 (Care and Welfare of Residents in Designated Centres for Older People) Regulations 2013 and HIQA's National Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland, 2016. In the absence of the Director of Nursing the post holder will act up in his/her absence and will have over-all responsibility for the management of the nursing home, including supervision and deployment of staff, management of complaints and HIQA notifications. The post holder will demonstrate the ability to make operational decisions for the centre and predominantly oversee the clinical and direct care, ensuring that the care is of a high standard and is centred on evidence-based practice. Liaise with external agencies to ensure that a good standard of care is delivered. Act as an advocate for residents and their families to ensure that they are appropriately informed and involved regarding care needs. Collaborate with residents, their families and the interdisciplinary team to facilitate appropriate planning and continuity of care. Ensure that staff adhere to guidelines for the safe transfer of residents to and from acute hospital settings and other facilities and ensure effective medication management including reconciliation. Be proactive in implementing the national guidelines on the management of restraint and where restraint is used ensure this is done in accordance with national policy guidelines, and records are contemporaneous and maintained. Ensure that, where a need is identified for specialized communication requirements, such requirements are recorded in the resident's care plan and all staff informed of these specialized requirements. Promote innovation and change in the approach to resident care delivery, particularly in relation to new research findings and advances in elder care. Communicate directly with residents, families, medical staff, nursing staff, interdisciplinary and team members to coordinate care and services, promote participation in care plans, and maintain a high quality of care and life for residents. Promote customer service and hospitality and respond to and adequately resolves complaints or concerns from residents or families about nursing services. Ensure that all complaints/ concerns are documented, along with the actions taken and outcomes Ensure that the provision of the highest standard of care to the resident and families in the nursing home is consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values and strategic plan of Bon Secours Health System, evidenced in workplace culture, patient safety and quality care. Participate in the admission process and play an active role in the bed management of the centre, where required. Ensure through governance at daily and weekly clinical management team meetings and handovers are held to discuss resident status, census changes, personnel, or resident complaints/concerns, risk management etc. Participate in overall governance meetings where required. Provide an emergency on-call out of hours service to the nursing home. Ensure delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage. Demonstrate knowledge of and application of key clinical quality indicators, and proactively monitor and implement systems to achieve and/or surpass Nursing Home thresholds. Monitor and supervise all qualified staff, ensuring that they work within their Professional Code of Conduct and Competence and for non- qualified staff ensure that they adhere to the policies and procedures of Bon Secours Care Village. Report to the Director of Nursing episode's where this does not happen and support the Director of Nursing in the management and development of staff. Support, lead and guide the Clinical Nurse Managers in the daily management of their allocated units and be the senior clinical lead for decision making in each unit. In conjunction with the Director of Nursing, prepare staff for inspection process, instructing staff on matters of conduct and disclosure, interview by inspectors, immediate corrections of problems noted by Inspectors etc. Participate in the preparation of the Action Plan response to a HIQA inspection, and implement any follow-up, that is within his/ her remit. Conduct yearly performance reviews, with sign off by the Director of Nursing, which will be used to identify training needs. Support the Director of Nursing with training based on the training needs analysis, thematic inspections and mandatory training and organisational needs. Be open to hearing and addressing, any concerns/ complaints raised by residents, families or staff, ensure that these are dealt with immediately, reported upwards and recorded. Support the Director of Nursing in investigating, responding to and learning from all complaints/ concerns. As directed by the Director of Nursing contribute to the recruitment and selection process - and all HR practices. Ensure that the provision of a high standard of care to the resident and families in the nursing home is consistent with the BSHS Mission, Vision and Values, including the strategic and operational focus of our care is influenced strongly, evidenced in workplace culture, patient safety and quality care. Qualifications Registered Nurse with full NMBI registration required. A level 8 qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications in Health or a related field or a post-graduate qualification at a minimum of Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualification which includes a Management or Leadership module. Post graduate diploma in gerontology, preferable. Skills / Experience A minimum of 3 years' experience in Care of the older person in a Nursing Management role. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Demonstrate ability to deliver highest quality of person-centred care to residents Be competent to follow all health and safety policies in accordance with hospital policy, and procedures, guidelines and new initiatives as directed / introduced by the hospital.
