Senior Financial Accountant at Bolands Waterford
Role Overview
The Senior Financial Accountant will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations of a busy motor dealership, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with Irish statutory and tax requirements, and providing financial insight to support commercial decision‑making. Responsibilities include managing month‑end processes, supervising junior finance staff, and liaising with external auditors, Revenue, and manufacturers.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Control
Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow analysis.
Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes.
Maintain strong balance sheet control, including vehicle stock, creditors, accruals, and prepayments.
Support annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
Motor Trade & Manufacturer Reporting
Manage vehicle stock accounting for new, used and demonstrator vehicles.
Reconcile manufacturer statements, bonuses, rebates and warranty claims.
Ensure accurate treatment of dealer margins, holdbacks and incentives.
Monitor stock funding, floorplan finance and interest costs.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting.
Provide financial analysis on sales performance, margins, overheads and profitability by department (Sales, Service, Parts).
Support senior management with financial insights and recommendations.
Team Leadership & Systems
Supervise and mentor junior accounts staff.
Review work prepared by accounts assistants.
Assist with finance system improvements and process efficiencies.
Work closely with Dealer Management Systems (DMS) and accounting software.
Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Minimum 2 years post‑qualification experience, ideally within a car dealership or manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of Irish accounting standards and tax regulations.
Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing audits.
Skills & Competencies
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
Commercially minded with the ability to communicate financial information clearly.
Strong Excel and accounting software skills.
Experience with dealer management systems (advantageous).
