We are seeking to recruit a dynamic Contract Manager to work within our Facilities Solutions business for a University based in Surrey and Kent. This is a great opportunity to join a successful and expanding business with ambitious growth plans in the UK and Ireland.
Main Purpose of Role
The client places a significant emphasis on innovation, best practice service delivery and use of data to drive change and efficiency across a large corporate building portfolio.
Reporting to the Key Accounts Director, the role holder will lead, support and guide the cleaning team in the on-going operation and development of the services to ensure exceptional service levels, client satisfaction and continuous improvement to client and service users, enabling the attainment of set profit targets.
This is a position that will suit an organised and energetic individual with great leadership skills as well as passion for cleaning and for people and likes to be hands‑on. Successful candidate will ideally have previous experience as a Cleaning Manager, Cleaning Assistant Manager, Soft Services Manager in contract services for at least 3 years. The Area Account Manager will be responsible for leading the cleaning operation at multiple UCA locations, ensuring the best service in delivered through operational hours.
Key Accountabilities
Take responsibility for the management and development of the cleaning contract across multiple sites
Work with and support our client’s Facilities Department and team members in the day‑to‑day service delivery.
Maximize contract profitability and minimise contract losses through the delivery of a consistently high standard of customer service which meets the contract specification.
Communicate effectively with the client, Bidvest Noonan team and sub‑contractors on a daily basis
Ensure staff retention and motivation and develop team members.
Assist in the preparation and delivery of internal management information and client reports.
To be accountable for the development of employees by identifying training needs and utilising resources provided by the company to progress their skills and knowledge.
To select, recruit and vet employees in alignment with Company and Client policies, terms and conditions, and be accountable for their induction and ongoing training and development.
To ensure compliance with all company’s HR policies and procedures by strictly adhering to and acting upon within authority, and that no action is initiated unless authorised by your line Managers or HR.
To actively encourage and promote team spirit and development.
To recognise the potential for growth within the contract and for new business and communicate these to your line manager.
To be accountable for payroll and ensure that all relative documentation is prepared in line with appropriate deadlines and budget controls.
To participate and represent the company at client meeting, monthly management meetings and ensure that all tasks set are completed within the designated timescale.
To ensure that all additional project work is commenced, progressed and concluded to the satisfaction of the client.
To ensure that all necessary resources, materials and machines are available and on site and maintained to contract specification.
To prepare quotes for one off additional work.
To manage all relevant services (sub‑contractors) on site.
To be accountable and to respond to all relevant corrective actions or help desk issues appropriately within the designated time scales and complete all necessary documentation.
To manage the company site pack/ staff files to ensure they contain all the relevant and up to date company documentation.
To be accountable for the implementation and adherence to all Company Health and Safety policies, procedures and instructions and to confirm their effectiveness through planned Health & Safety audits and regular reviews.
To order materials, chemicals and equipment ensuring in line with budget.
To attend training courses as requested and update own personal skills and knowledge in areas of business, cleaning industry advancement and in particular health & safety.
Provide daily report of site activities
Ensure the contract is operating to and exceeding the required specification and performance and is regularly audited in line with specification
Ensure business sector is fully compliant with Industry Standards, relevant employment legislation, ISO and Company procedures & policies
Endorse new Company initiatives and ensure they are implemented on site
Due to the nature of the role, extra hours and weekend work may be required for which you will be notified in advance and paid accordingly.
Inspect the facilities regularly to ensure a high standard of work is maintained.
Take a hands‑on approach to cleaning throughout the site.
Handle complaints, accidents and incidents, ensuring appropriate resolution.
Required experience / preferred
Demonstratable experience of Operational Management in a role.
Demonstratable experience of Client Relationship and Engagement Management
Demonstratable experience of delivering deadlines & budgets
Competent in office applications in particular Excel / Word / PowerPoint
