    Avencia Consulting is a specialist Technology and Change consultancy supporting organisations with digital transformation, IT strategy, and people‑led change. Part of the Oliver James Group, Avencia combines deep market insight, strong client relationships, and specialist talent networks with consulting expertise to deliver high‑impact transformation programmes. We are seeking a commercially experienced Business Development Director on a fractional basis (2-3 days per week for 6 months) to accelerate market traction, open strategic client relationships, and convert opportunities into consulting engagements. The role benefits from access to the established Oliver James client network across financial services, aviation, technology, and professional services sectors. The Mandate Working closely with the Managing Director and Head of Consulting, the role will focus on originating and converting new consulting opportunities, while helping shape Avencia’s commercial strategy, sector focus, and market positioning. The successful candidate will also leverage the Oliver James client network to identify consulting opportunities and support their conversion into consulting assignments. Key Responsibilities New Business Development Identify, develop, and convert new consulting opportunities across Avencia’s priority sectors. Build relationships with senior client stakeholders including CIO, CTO, COO, CFO, and transformation leaders. Lead the sales lifecycle from opportunity identification through to proposal and deal closure, working with the Head of Consulting on solution design. Leveraging the Oliver James Network Work closely with Oliver James consultants, Commercial Directors, and account leaders to identify and convert consulting opportunities within existing client relationships. Support recruitment teams in recognising consulting opportunities and positioning Avencia’s services with clients. Consulting Opportunity Development Collaborate with the Head of Consulting to develop proposals, commercial models, and Statements of Work (SOWs). Ensure consulting engagements are positioned as outcome‑focused, value‑driven solutions across technology transformation, digital delivery, and organisational change programmes, aligned to client priorities. Represent Avencia through industry engagement, client networking, and targeted events. Provide market insight on client demand, sector trends, and competitor activity to support proposition development. Profile Proven track record in selling people‑led change solutions in consulting, technology advisory, or professional services. Experience selling people‑led consulting engagements in technology, digital transformation and change and transformation to senior stakeholders across a breadth of industries and size of company (e.g. Aviation and Aircraft Leasing, Fintech, Healthcare, Technology, State and Semi‑State). Demonstrated ability to originate and close consulting opportunities with enterprise or mid‑market clients. Strong commercial acumen and experience shaping consulting proposals and commercial structures. Ability to operate independently in a fractional leadership role, focusing on high‑value commercial outcomes. Brings a strong network of senior client buyers and decision‑makers across relevant sectors. Success Measures Success in the role will be measured through the development of a strong pipeline of consulting opportunities and the conversion of strategic engagements during the engagement period.
