Job Purpose The Engineer North Atlantic Communications (NAC) will carry out the full engineering role with particular focus on Voice and Data Communications Systems (HF and VHF communications, IP networking, datacomms), Flight Data Processing, Network Security, Mechanical and Electrical, and Critical Systems Engineering. The Engineer NAC is responsible and accountable for themonitoring and control of all operational Air Traffic Management Equipment and Systems and provides a call out service on a 24/7, 365 shift basis. The Engineer NAC also provides technical expertise to Operations and is responsible for project delivery as required. .Main Duties and Responsibilities Engagement in project delivery through the full systems development lifecycle from system specification to testing and final transfer into operational service. Ensure equipment and systems operate with minimum interruptions to service which may require technical analysis and corrective procedures having to be carried out during periods of reduced traffic to minimise down time. Monitor and maintain equipment and systems, in a safety critical environment, to ensure the delivery of safe and high-quality customer service is provided by air traffic management. Certify equipment and systems for use by NAC Operations to include communications, mechanical and electrical and flight data processing systems. Analyse and resolve faults in a real time environment. Carry out corrective and preventative maintenance duties and restoration of equipment/systems to service in the event of failure. Communicate with key stakeholders expected return to service timescales of equipment and systems. Coordination and supervision of third-party equipment manufacturers and contractors. Provision of technical expertise during regulatory and internal compliance audits. Other duties as may be assigned, where appropriate. PERSON SPECIFICATON Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills Essential: Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Network System Engineering, Electronic Systems Engineering or related technical discipline Minimum 2 years work experience in the field of engineering Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team Proven ability to prioritise workload Flexibility to operate in a 24/7, 365-day environment Ability to undertake project systems engineering and project management tasks Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Desirable: Understanding of computer systems Understanding of network systems Understanding of radio communications (VHF, HF, antennas) Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems Experience and knowledge of systems engineering in a regulated environment Experience and understanding of systems integration, system test and evaluation methods. Experience of safety critical systems operation and maintenance An understanding of the Companys customers and regulatory environment.   • Flight Data Systems Engineer  

    - Dublin

    Job Purpose The AirNav Ireland TopSky ATC One program will design, install and commission an advanced Flight Data Processing System for the provision of Air Traffic Control Services in airspace controlled by AirNav Ireland. AirNav Ireland will install the TopSky ATC One system at its sites in Dublin, Shannon and Cork. TopSky One is an air traffic control automation solution for the delivery of safe and efficient airspace operations. The successful candidates will work in the TopSky ATC One program participating in the system design, installation, test and commissioning phases. The successful candidate will bebased at the Air Traffic Control Centre at Dublin Airport or the Air Traffic Control Centre at Shannon but may be required to work temporarily at any of the AirNav Ireland sites. Following successful commissioning of the TopSky ATC One system, the successful candidate will be a member of the FDPS Domain teamand will provide ATSEP Level B system support to the operational system. As part of the FDPS Domain team the successful candidate will provide out-of-office-hours support within the context of the Airnav engineering technical call out scheme. AirNav Ireland maintains a ATSEP Competency and Licensing program. ATSEP Level B is the competency level required for engineers operating and/or maintaining operational air traffic control equipment. AirNav Ireland, through the TopSky ATC One program will provide all training and resources required to achieve the appropriate ATSEP Level B rating. Main Duties and Responsibilities System design review for AirNav Ireland installation of TopSky ATC One system Design and analysis of cyber security solutions affecting TopSky ATC One system Design and analysis of interfaces between TopSky ATC One system and other Airnav systems. System installation works including supervision of cabling, electrical works, server/workstation preparation, system configuration and software deployment System validation works including test of system interfaces, system performance and system resilience/robustness Provide system expertise to support safety analysis activities System commissioning works Post-commissioning system support including on-call liability Other duties as may be assigned, where appropriate. PERSON SPECIFICATON Education, Knowledge, Experience & Skills Essential: Third level qualification in Electronic\Electrical Engineering OR Computer Science OR Computer Engineering Minimum of three years experience working as a computer network system administrator Knowledge and experience of network design, implementation and administration Knowledge and experience of implementing cyber security solutions in a distributed network environment Knowledge and experience of Linux type operating systems Strong work ethic Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
