  • Estimator/Quantity Surveyor

The Role Estimator/QS - Actavo Modular The Estimator produces fully costed, analytical estimates for Actavo Modular Building Solutions activities including civil engineering works undertaken by Sub Contractors. Ensure Tenders are returned on time with a clear scope of works detailed in Tender Submission. To assist the Senior Estimator in pricing all works including taking ownership of certain tenders from inception through to handover to the operation team. Working closely with the Senior Estimator and Sales team, your role will be to understand the estimating requirement of your clients, which span the HSE, Government departments, Contractors, Hotels and Schools, and then to take these initial thoughts into workable pricing model. Responsibilities Liaison with the Client and his Professional representatives. Management and issue of appropriate enquiries for specialist subcontract/material supplies. Preparation of analytical estimates for main contractor works utilising computerised estimating system Measurement for the production of Bills of Quantities for plan and specification/design build disciplines. Provision of costs for contract Preliminary items. Tender adjudication. Liaison with design team members and assist the Senior Estimator in taking on specific packages / tenders Preparation of detailed information for hand over to production teams for successful tenders and ensure all quotes / relevant information is available. Support and liaison with the other site and/or office-based disciplines including Divisional Directors/Managers, Contract Managers, Planners, Quantity Surveyors, Design Coordinators, Buyers etc. To undertake any other duties assigned which are consistent with the job holder's expertise. Requirements Educated to degree level/ Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Economics or Quantity Surveying. Ability to understand specifications, tender documents, technical drawings Excellent analytical, numeric and IT skills with good attention to detail. Conquest Estimating software would be beneficial but not mandatory. Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills required Negotiation and Influencing skills Communication Project Management and Planning Time Management Strong customer focus & commitment to quality and procedures Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised. The Role The Senior Estimator produces fully costed, analytical estimates for a range of Actavo civil engineering and utility projects. This is a highly analytical and collaborative role requiring strong commercial acumen, technical understanding, and stakeholder management. The Senior Estimator is central to the bid lifecycle, from initial RFQ to final handover, playing a vital part in project pricing accuracy, risk management, and profitability. Responsibilities Adhere to and maintain compliance with all Health and Safety procedures within your work. Ensuring you are responsible for yourself and/or team members. Upon receipt of a request for quotation analyse all scopes of work, drawings, specifications and client pricing documentation and ensure that they form the basis of bidding. Raise technical and commercial queries with Clients and incorporate any responses into the bid. Develop detailed first principles estimates for each rate item ensuring that these are fully aligned with the Client's BOQ requirements. Obtain quotations from the market such as from vendors or subcontractors and perform analysis from a technical and commercial viewpoint, interrogating these quotations for scope gaps and variances. Once finalised complete an adjudication and recommendation, including justification for which pricing to include within the bid. Consult internally with personnel in other departments including Construction, Commercial, EHS, Quality and Legal to develop the execution strategy, around which the pricing is built. Ability to prepare cash flows for projects with minimal guidance. Participation in risk reviews. Preparation of internal reports detailing the basis of estimate and compilation of presentations for Management review. Assist in the compilation of tender submissions as required. In post tendering phase liaise with the Client and respond to any requests for clarifications that may arise once the Client has reviewed the Actavo submission. Participate in final negotiations with prospective Clients as required. Preparation of handover documentation to facilitate a seamless transition from Estimating to Operations. The Project Lead - Civils is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, coordination, and performance of on-site civils crews delivering network infrastructure projects. The role ensures that all civils works are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with Con-tract Drawings, Specifications, Programme requirements, and Actavo Civils SOPs, RAMS, and Safety Procedures. You will act as the primary operational link between site teams, Project Management, clients, and third parties, ensuring company objectives, safety culture, quality standards, and delivery targets are clearly communicated and achieved. Responsibilities: Adhere to and maintain compliance with all Health and Safety procedures within your work. Carry out weekly Safety Audits on the Actavo Safety Platform ensuring best practices are followed Prepare and issue work packs to the project teams in an efficient and timely manner. Plan and coordinate accurate ordering of all required materials. Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with the up-to-date Contract Drawings. Review, inspect and approve completed work from site teams. Carry out Weekly Quality Audits onsite using Actavo's Workflow Management System, following up to ensure a timely close out of any identified deviations. Ensure site compliance with council road opening licenses and to correct and safe traffic management procedures. Ensure all reinstatement is completed in a timely manner, safely and to standard. Report to the Head of Civils on a daily basis, giving important updates in a timely manner. Hold weekly and monthly toolbox talks with your team to give key updates and any changes if needed, regarding the project at hand. Manage and give constructive feedback to your team and provide training and coaching where appropriate. Liaise with affected third parties where necessary. Liaise with client & subcontracting personnel in a clear and professional manner. Assist in the resolution of any fault issues found during other phases of the network construction processes. Requirements: Educated to diploma/certificate Civils engineering or relevant field equivalent experience preferred Minimum 5 years' experience working on civils/utilities networks. Experience in supervising multi-disciplined teams in a fast-paced volume driven environment. CSCS in SLG, LUGs and Advanced reinstatement course desirable. Excellent analytical with a high standard of numerical skills. Data Analysis and Reporting. Proven ability to use MS Office programs. Civil engineering / utilities construction experience. Strong computer skills with proven experience in MS Office and workflow management systems.
