What We Need We are seeking a Lead Technical Artist with deep expertise in materials, rendering performance, and artist pipelines to support our global art teams. In this role, you will bridge the gap between art and engineering—ensuring artists have powerful, scalable tools and workflows while maintaining visual quality and optimal real‑time performance across platforms. You will lead a distributed team of Technical Artists, collaborate closely with rendering engineers and art directors, and serve as a key driver in shaping the technical foundations of our visual style and production efficiency. What You’ll Do Lead and mentor a team of Technical Artists, providing clear direction, feedback, and support to foster professional growth and career advancement. Collaborate with rendering engineers to create scalable and performant shader solutions across multiple platforms (PC, console, mobile, cloud). Define material standards, documentation, and best practices for all global art teams. Own performance metrics related to materials , geometry , lighting , and visual effects , guiding teams toward frame‑rate and memory targets. Collaborate with Art and Engineering to drive research, workflows, and technologies for improved rendering techniques, performance metrics, and a streamlined content creation process. Become a proficient user and contributor of the existing toolset and workflow, making any necessary improvements to enhance the capabilities. Coach, mentor and help team members grow. What Will Make You a Great Fit Extensive track record of shipping high‑quality titles in a lead or senior capacity. Demonstrated success in leading, mentoring, and scaling technical art teams. A deep understanding of the Unreal Engine and BP system. Extensive experience using dynamic lighting workflows and PBR materials. Familiarity with game performance evaluation tools to profile CPU, GPU, and memory performance on multiple target platforms. Strong knowledge of shader creation via node graph, HLSL or GL. Intermediate skill with Python, and C++. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Love for video games. To thrive in this role, a proficient grasp of particle systems, material creation, modeling, and texturing is essential. A perfect blend of technical expertise and a creative eye will make our game worlds feel truly alive and dynamic. What You Will Do: Conceptualize and implement spectacular VFX that align with the project's artistic vision. Take key VFX content from concept to completion, owning the work within the scope provided by the Lead VFX Artist. Collaborate across teams (art, engineering, and design) to seamlessly integrate VFX that support gameplay and deliver memorable moments. Bring your deep knowledge of Unreal to create high-performance effects that elevate our visual standards. Help build efficient pipelines for VFX creation and implementation, sharing expertise to elevate the team. Partner with production to manage tasks, ensuring work is delivered on schedule to meet deadlines. Who Will Be A Great Fit: 5+ years within the video game industry in a VFX artist role. Experience working with real-time particle systems, shader development, lighting, and performance optimization. Solid understanding of DCCs such as Photoshop and Maya. Expertise in Unreal, including Niagara, the Material Editor, Sequencer, and Blueprint. A high level of artistry with expertise in form, color, movement, painting, texturing, and 3D modeling skills. A collaborative spirit with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently. Nice To Have: Experience with Houdini, EmberGen, or other simulation tools. Background in traditional art or animation. Experience working on multiplayer or live-service titles. Familiarity with PBR workflows and cross-platform development.
