• Overview Environmental Health and Safety Officer - Kerry Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager the successful Health & Safety Officer will be involved in the following support production, maintain utilities, develop projects & ensure EHS compliance. The Health & Safety Officer will ensure company compliance with health and safety legislation, develop and maintain best practice procedures, ensure emergency procedures are in place, liaise with government bodies when necessary, promote health and safety awareness at work. Qualifications The Health & Safety Officer will have a Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at work. Qualifications in other H&S courses such as First Aider course are an advantage. Knowledge/experience in ISO45001 Safety Management Standard, an advantage. Duties Advise on health and safety issues on an ongoing basis Provide training for employee’s e.g. Induction, Lab Safety etc. Carry out risk assessments on an annual basis Perform safety patrols on a regular basis and document same Investigate fully all serious accidents and dangerous occurrences and document the findings Ensure high levels of pest control are maintained on a weekly basis Co-ordinate Safety Committee meetings, safety Audits, manual handling training Update safety rules and procedures as necessary. Advise on and select appropriate p.p.e. Report all serious accidents/incidents to the relevant authorities Promote safety awareness at work Ensure all contractors working on site receive the relevant training and adhere to site safety rules Ensure adequate emergency procedures are in place e.g. emergency evacuations, emergency response team, assembly point wardens etc. Train employees on correct CPR technique and defibrillator use.
